We at Greenpeace had three key expectations for the Paris Agreement. We wanted:a signal that the age of fossil fuels is over,a commitment to soon – and continuously – improve national climate action andglobal solidarity, including a way to make polluters pay for the damage they cause.Today, we can say that we got one, achieved progress on two, and that governments mostly failed us on three. Justice and corporate accountability were the weakest points of the Paris deal.

COP 21 - "World’s richest 10% produce half of carbon emissions while poorest 3.5 billion account for just a tenth"

The poorest half of the world’s population - 3.5 billion people - is responsible for just 10 percent of carbon emissions, despite being the most threatened by the catastrophic storms, droughts, and other severe weather shocks linked to climate change. These are the findings of a new Oxfam report, released during the ongoing climate talks in Paris, which also shows the world’s richest 10 percent produce around half of all emissions.
